About
What is SatoriDaily?
Satori (悟り) means a moment of sudden awakening — a flash of understanding that changes how you see the world. In Zen Buddhism, it's the instant when confusion gives way to clarity.
SatoriDaily is a free newsletter that delivers one Japanese concept to your inbox every morning. Each concept is a small philosophy — a word that carries centuries of wisdom in a single breath.
How it works
Each morning, you receive one concept. It includes the Japanese word (kanji, hiragana, and romaji), its cultural origins, a story or meditation, and a small way to apply it in your daily life.
Our structure is simple:
- The Word — kanji, pronunciation, and meaning
- The Origin — where this concept comes from and why it matters
- The Story — a narrative that brings the concept to life
- Try This Today — one practical way to bring this idea into your day
- The Reflection — a closing thought to carry with you
Our philosophy
We believe these concepts are too beautiful and too useful to live only in academic textbooks. But we also believe they deserve more than surface-level treatment. Every concept is researched carefully, written with warmth (not pretension), and reviewed by people who care about cultural accuracy.
We don't oversimplify. We don't exoticize. We treat each concept with the respect it deserves — and we trust our readers to meet them with curiosity.
